My personal journey began is a rare blood disorder that was discovered just after I started college. The years that followed forced me to come face to face, not only with my illness and mortality, but also with my connection to the environment. It became very clear to me that the environment and health were connected and that if I wanted to be truly healthy, I had to care for both. My first company, Green Clean (greencleanbiz.com) came about when I discovered that the cleaning products I was using not only to clean my own home, but others homes were highly toxic. I knew I had to find a better way. Night and day I began researching the hazards of chemical cleaners, trying to get companies to disclose their cleaning chemical ingredients, and discovering that I could make safe, and effective cleaning products in my very own home. Brining all of the research and hangs on experience together brought me to the beginning of Green Clean. Planet Green was created after years of educating on environmental toxins and being asked, "Where can I find more organic items to protect my family and pets?" I decided it was very important to have a one-stop location for creating a healthier home and planet right in our own community. Planet Green was created to be interactive, meaning that people come to us to help them move towards health and environments awareness. We offer the products they need for change, and give them the information to understand why to change, and how an item can benefit their health and protect their environment. Our Mission continues as we give back to the community by sourcing the majority of our store locally. There are truly wonderful, organic, natural, and sustainable artisans and manufacturers in our very own city and state, or close to home, and we love to highlight what they do to make out world better. Planet Green is about community, environment, health, and reconnecting to what is important. I hope you will visit us soon. Eco Regards, |

green tips to start 2010
Switching from disposable plastic water bottles to a reusable, high-quality canteen.Bottled water ranges from $1 to $4 so a bottle of water a day for a month can cost anywhere from $30 to $120. The EPA estimates that the average cost of tap water in the U.S. is $2 for 1,000 gallons. That is 2/10th of a cent per gallon! Even the purchase of a new water bottle ($12-$20) is less than a bottle a day habit. Reusable containers also help eliminate the almost 38 billion plastic water bottles that end up in U.S. landfill annually. |
